Event/course Code SCH/21/341
Event/course type Curriculum Training / Induction / NQT
Event Description This session will develop colleagues understanding of metacognition, what it is, how it supports learning and how to develop pupils’ metacognition and self-efficacy in the classroom. We will explore some of the key messages shared from the EEF research around metacognition and the importance of explicitly teaching and modelling metacognitive strategies.
As a result, colleagues will:
·        Be more confident in planning and developing learning opportunities to support and promote pupils’ meta-cognition
·        Have a deeper understanding of metacognition and how to develop pupils’ ability to self- regulate their learning
·        Take away a ‘toolkit’ of practical ideas and strategies that you can use to effectively support the further development of pupils’ metacognitive abilities in the classroom

Audience: ECT, RQT’s and teaching assistants
