Event Description | Audience – Anyone exploring outdoors with 3–5-year-olds! Focus: - Discovering ways to develop and encourage language development in the outdoor environment when the children are fully immersed in their chosen play. Course information The outside environment is a great way to develop and encourage language development. Exploring the world around them allows children to learn and practise using a wide vocabulary and helps them to develop a range of communication and language skills. There is evidence to show that some children (and adults!) learn better than they do indoors. The outdoor environment can be a highly motivational place for the development of communication skills. Motivation will stimulate the use and development of communication skills, but children must first experience the desire to express their thoughts, feelings, ideas, and intentions. We know that children learn best through activities and experiences that involve all of their senses, and the outdoor environment can provide more freedom and space to engage in creative activities – such as music, dance, rhymes and songs – that also support language development. During this course we will consider the many exciting ways that we can help children develop their communication and language skills at the same time as adding to their knowledge and understanding of the world around them, and of course I’m sure we will mention the importance of the characteristics of effective teaching and learning at some point as well! Please come dressed appropriately as part of the course will hopefully take place outside – that is not an April fool comment! Cost - £30 + VAT per delegate Trainer - Gill Deakin |
