Event Description | Worcestershire Children’s First (WCF) Educational Psychology Service (EPS) are offering a 7 week practical course for practitioners who work with and support children and young people at risk of or experiencing Emotionally-Based School Avoidance (EBSA). This course is specifically for those working with years 5 to 11 (upper primary / secondary). The measures that we will cover do not go down to that age range (reception to year 4) and many of the interventions won’t be appropriate they are more language based The course will begin with an initial awareness raising session that should be attended by both the practitioner delivering interventions (e.g. teaching assistant, learning mentor) and a member of staff whose responsibility it is to co-ordinate interventions and support for CYP in their setting (e.g. SENCO, Designated Mental Health Lead). The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the latest research on EBSA and outline the next 6 sessions so that there is a shared understanding of what will be covered. The next six sessions are more practically based and are intended for practitioners that directly deliver interventions (e.g. teaching assistant, learning mentor, family support worker). This course will be delivered by a range of Educational and Trainee Educational Psychologists from WCF EPS. The course is mainly aimed at those working with years 5 to 11. The measures that we will cover do not go down to reception to year 4 and many of the interventions won’t be appropriate as they are more language based Cost per delegate £200 + VAT When booking include in the booking requirements field the support member of staff who will be joining the delegate on the Introductory session only. THE SUPPORT MEMBER OF STAFF DOES NOT NEED TO BE FORMALLY BOOKED. |
