Make a book your hook

Event/course Code SCH/21/464
Event/course type Course / Early Years Curriculum
Event Description The love of Reading. That journey that we are honoured to be part of with very young children who act like sponges when each word or image in the book comes alive.

Stories, books, poems, rhymes, words, actions, strange and funny voices, pictures, illustrations, colours, textures, fantasy, reality – wow! A book really can be a hook.

In each these two sessions we will take one book (suitable for 4–6-year-olds) and explore how it can then excitedly open up wonderful learning opportunities for the children to independently investigate in their daily provision to extend their imagination, to learn and use new vocabulary with confidence in their play and to put these new words into the context around them. What could reading into writing look like? How can the children take these ideas into their own small world play and rehearse this ‘recently introduced vocabulary? Will you be hooked as well?
Training Objectives Pinning early language development ideas through every training opportunity.
