Course information
“Moderation of EYFS profile assessments should be a collaborative process with colleagues. This supports the quality assurance of teacher assessment judgements and provides a valuable opportunity for professional development.” “It is important for teachers to build a shared understanding of the EG’s and the EYFS statutory framework.”

In accordance with the Childcare Act 2006 LA’s must offer training in EYFS assessment and the completion of the EYFS profile summaries to all providers that need it.

LA’s must ensure that EYFS providers understand and follow the requirements set out in the EYFSP Handbook by providing:
• Advice on all aspects of assessment at EYFS
• Training, including on agreement trialling.”

Training Objectives These Quality Assurance sessions for teachers will enable Head teachers to meet their duty for ensuring their teachers attend training courses and moderation meetings within schools and with other schools and to use quality assurance processes to ensure that the data accurately reflects the attainment of the current cohort of children.

The prime purpose of the EYFSP information at the end of the year is to inform the Year 1 teachers of the children’s strengths and areas of development so that they can meet their needs and carry on their learning. The sessions will therefore provide an opportunity to discuss and gain a shared view of the consistency and accuracy of judgements being made

This being the first year of data being submitted from judgements made against the new ELG’s and with new exemplification materials it will be most beneficial for all Worcestershire teachers to be part of this agreement trialling process across the county, especially as the LA external moderation process has been removed by the DfE.

Further details of the structure of the sessions will be sent out to schools nearer the time and when the National EYFSP exemplification materials have been produced and circulated.
